Farmhand Job 

Who we are:
At Allaire Community Farm, we provide transformative and unique experiences through engagement with our valued and respected rescued animals along with vast opportunities to engage in our working farm. Our programs provide support and exciting memories for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, teens struggling with mental health conditions, veterans with PTSD, and families battling cancer. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to nurture through nature. 

Who we’re looking for:
Allaire Community Farm is looking for a self-motivated, hard-working farmhand to grow with our team. This is a year round, full time position. Our farmhands are flexible and multi-talented; working in all departments of our farm including gardening, landscaping, animal care, general repairs and maintenance. Our farmhands often also pitch-in working with the public during events, classes, and other programming. 

Requirements:
- Valid Drivers License 
- Must be able to comfortably lift 50 pounds 
- Capacity to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform heavy manual labor for extended periods over uneven, muddy, or sloped terrain in various weather conditions including extended sun or cold exposure
- Comfortable working around various farm animals
- Comfortable working with the public and guests of various ages
- Positive attitude and good communication skills
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team
- Strong problem solving skills
- Desire to learn about various types of agriculture
- Must be available to work at least one weekend day

Bonus Skills:
- Basic skills using hand and power tools
- Basic carpentry skills
- Experience operating tractors / forklifts / heavy machinery
