Volunteer Roles

Party Host Assistants: This volunteer position is for someone who is outgoing, loves children, and animals. The Party Host Assistant responsibilities entail assisting with set-up of party, greeting party guests and directing them where to be, helping with helmets for pony rides and/or assisting in petting zoo with the petting zoo tour, grooming, and gathering eggs. Assisting with distribution of pizza and cake and breakdown of party. This opportunity is mostly available during the weekends, holidays, and occasional weekdays. The ideal ages for this position are middle-school aged individuals and up.

Party & Event Horse Assistants: This volunteer position is ideal for those who have love horses and are comfortable being around them. The position entails assisting during parties and events with grooming, tacking, leading during the party or event, un-tacking, and turn out of horses after event is complete. Also entails returning tack and grooming supplies to appropriate place, cleaning up barn, and riding arena from horse preparation and use.This opportunity is mostly available during the weekends, holidays, and occasional weekdays. The ideal ages for this position are middle-school aged individuals and up.

Horsemanship Program Leaders: This volunteer position is ideal for all-around horse lover and is experienced, comfortable, and confident in working with horses. A horsemanship leader’s responsibilities entails assisting the riding instructor in all aspects of the program including: grooming, tacking, leading for the mounted lesson portion, un-tacking and turn out of horses. Additionally, the position entails returning tack and grooming supplies to appropriate place, cleaning up barn and riding arena from horse preparation and use. This opportunity is available on various days. The ideal ages for this position are middle-school aged individuals and up.

Petting Zoo Guides: This volunteer position is for someone who loves farm animals and wants to and can share the animals’ stories, as well as whole-heartily believes and understands the mission of the farm and the animals contribution to that mission. This opportunity entails a few hours on a specified day and time for the petting zoo to be open to the public and sharing their stories and how they contribute to the mission of the farm. Other responsibilities during this opportunity is to maintain the petting zoo area, assist in letting visitors groom the animals, encourage donations to the farm and overall oversee the petting zoo area while visitors enjoy it. This opportunity can be customized to a schedule that works for the right candidate and farm. The ideal ages for this position are upper middle-school aged individuals and up. This is a great opportunity for adults and seniors too. Individuals need to be self-sufficient, motivated, and able to be unsupervised.

Little Farm Hands: This volunteer opportunity is ideal for families with younger children who want to offer their children a unique experience and instill the importance of giving back and helping others. This opportunity includes, but may not be limited to, sweeping the barn, cleaning out stalls, mucking fields, checking and refilling water containers and troughs, back up feeders, barn care and other possible tasks that are suitable for younger children. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Garden Greenthumbs: This volunteer position is perfect for the gardener that is passionate about sustainability and healthy gardening. In order to maintain and continue to grow fresh healthy organic produce here at the farm, volunteers that can assist in weeding, seeding, planting, and harvesting is ideal. This opportunity is open to availability, however prefers to remain consistent through the season. This position is ideal for all ages.  Younger children must be supervised by an adult.

Volunteer opportunities are geared for those that wish to make a commitment and are interested and passionate about Allaire Community Farm and its mission. These opportunities are not fit for those looking to only fulfill community service hours (i.e. National Honors, religious commitments, etc).
